How the Cradle Score works
One number, built from three parts you can see. A crib mattress can score high on materials and lower on value, and the page shows you both.
Materials & safety
Certifications like GREENGUARD Gold, GOTS and OEKO-TEX, flame retardants, PFAS screening, crash tests and recall history.
Parent consensus
The praise and complaints that keep coming up across hands-on tests, Reddit, TikTok, retailer reviews and parent forums.
Value & longevity
Price against similar products, months of use, and whether a cheaper option does the same job.
Independent by design
No paid placements
Brands can't pay to be listed, ranked or scored, and we don't accept free products in exchange for coverage.
Money never moves a score
Some "Check price" links may earn a small commission at no cost to you. Scores are set before links are added.
Every claim is sourced
Each page lists its sources and the date it was last checked. Spot an error and we'll fix it.

Does a high score mean a product is safe?
A high score means our materials check found no known concerns and parents and testers report it works well. It isn't a safety certification. Always follow the manual, and for car seats and sleep, CPSC, NHTSA and AAP guidance comes first.
Why should I trust your summary of reviews, Reddit and TikTok?
You don't have to take our word for it. Every page links to the tests, threads and reviews behind it, and labels the summary as ours. We never invent quotes or reviewers.
Why do so many scores say Low confidence?
Confidence reflects how much independent evidence we found, not how good the product is. Many pages start with one hands-on test and a recall search, and move up as we add Reddit threads, more tests and parent reports.
How often are scores updated?
Every page shows its last-checked date. We recheck each product at least every six months, and right away when a recall is announced.
Can a brand pay for a better score?
No. Brands can't pay for placement, scores or reviews. Affiliate commissions are disclosed and never change a score.
